December 16 ● Advent 3 – Anticipating God: Rejoicing ● Zephaniah 3:14-20

What is the difference between rejoicing and just being happy? Is there a qualitative difference? Do they come from the same place?

What makes you rejoice? What kinds of things make you more likely to rejoice? Can you think of a time when you really rejoiced in something?

Zephaniah encourages Israel to rejoice for two reasons in verse 3:15, what are they? How are they in common?

What are the emotions that really can dampen our capacity to rejoice in life? What strategies can help us combat them?

Shame, fear, and weakness are the things that will be overcome according Zephaniah, what does God do to remove these things?

Zephaniah describes a God who fights for us. Who or what is God fighting for us? Might there be problems if you take this idea too far?

Who will God save and what will God do for them according to Zephaniah 3:19-20? Who are some people today that are need of saving? What is your prayer for them?
