Word Studies for the Week of October 28, 2018

October 28 ● Reformation Sunday- Our Lighthouse: Seeing by Faith ● Mark 10:46-52

When you see a beggar on the street, what do you normally do? Do you pass by, give some money, engage in conversation?

Mark 10:48 states that many in the crown were trying to get Bartimaeus to be quiet; do people sometimes get upset when the powerless and those that they look down upon speak up?

How does Bartimaeus respond those trying to silence him? What lesson is there for us in his actions?

Does the fact that Jesus picks out Bartimaeus from the crowd make a statement about what Jesus came to earth to do? If so, what is that statement?

Is it important that Jesus asks Bartimaeus what he wants done for him before he heals him? If so, why is it important? What does it say about Jesus? What does it say about Jesus? What does it say about Bartimaeus?

How might Bartimaeus’s request to see again be a prototype prayer for all Christians?

Jesus states that faith healed Bartimaeus; how does faith help you see?
