Word Studies for the Week of February 10, 2019

February 10 ● Epiphany 5 – The More Excellent Way: Following ● Luke 5:1-11

Describe a time in your life when you felt God was trying to tell you something? How did you take it? Did you listen right away or did it take a while?

In Luke 5 Jesus meets Peter and gives him some instructions, what was Peter’s reaction to Peter? How might have Peter felt about Jesus at first?

What makes it hard for us to listen to instruction from others? How might Peter’s response to the command to let down his nets give a clue to our own roadblocks?

What does the miraculous catch of fish say about who Jesus really is?

What is Peter’s reaction when that message of who Jesus is sinks into his heart? What does he tell Jesus to do? How might we do the same thing at times?

How does Jesus respond to Peter?

What does it mean to be “catching people”?

Why did the disciples leave their boats, nets and the great catch of fish? Would you leave everything right after your biggest success in your field?
