Pastor J. David Knecht, DMin, Lead Pastor
My name is Pastor Dave Knecht. I have been serving as Lead Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church since May 2008. Prior to coming to Holy Cross, I had served in several parishes in North Jersey since 1996. I was also given the opportunity to serve as a missionary and Pastor in Taiwan. It was in Taiwan where I met my lovely wife Yu-Mei. God has blessed with children, a son and a daughter. I am fluent in German and speak conversational Mandarin. In my spare time I enjoy both running and cycling.
I hold a Doctor of Ministry and a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia; I earned a BA in Economics from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Before entering ministry, I spent several years working in the graphic arts industry.
The biggest joy in ministry is seeing how the Holy Spirit works through the lives of Christians. When people are inspired to use the gifts that their heavenly Father has given them for helping others it glorifies the God who sent His only Son. I would love the chance to meet you and talk about what God is doing in your life. I would be happy to make arrangements to speak to you about Holy Cross or whatever God has placed on your heart.

Jon Torgrimsen, Music & Worship Minister
Jon Torgrimsen and his wife Corrina, son Dylan, and daughter Gianna, live in Basking Ridge. Jon grew up in Dunellen, and came to Holy Cross in 2012. As our Worship Leader, he feels, “The best part of my job is getting the privilege to worship with people on a regular basis.” He shares his gift of music not only with our church, but also with the youth through guitar lessons. Jon is also a composer, songwriter and guitar picker. You can find links to his original music on his blog http://jonathantorgrimsen.wordpress.com/
Gail Werner, Children’s Minister
I joined the staff at Holy Cross having served as a volunteer, a program coordinator, a community advocate and a staff member at six churches in Northwestern New Jersey. It is a privilege to assist volunteers in discovering how they may serve Christ through Children’s Ministry.
Each gift and talent a volunteer expresses is a blessing to a child that allows us to foster consistency as we serve the Lord. By Offering weekly Sunday School classes year round we help to acquaint children with their dynamic role in the Christian Faith.
